• {DIY} Dress up your drink with Drink Stirs!

    DIY drink stirs for your wedding cocktails
    Although I know not everyone partakes in cocktails at a wedding (I’ve never met such a person, but I know they exist.  Like, somewhere) but to me, a wedding celebration just isn’t complete without a cocktail.  And a cocktail isn’t complete without its favorite accessory – the drink stir!  And even if you don’t partake in a cocktail, you can make your drink (alcoholic or not) happy with a fun drink stir.  Everyone wins!  Here are some fun ideas for making your own, plus a DIY from the ones I made for my own wedding!

    You really can’t get much easier than these two options.  You need dowel rods cut to size (or any kind of bamboo skewer or stick) and you either tie a ribbon of your choice to the top or wrap washi tape around the top.  And done!

    If you want something a little more complicated (but not much) these two are unique options.  I love the bowties, and the “sip and repeat” mantra is really fun!  And the DIY for the one on the right would be similar to the tutorial below.

    This was one of my favorite DIY wedding projects.  I really wanted drink stirs and I wanted to incorporate our wedding monogram (remember it on our DIY Welcome Bags?)  We had an idea for the other side of the flag to incorporate famous quotes about drinking, libations, alcohol, etc. to add a little conversation starter to the party.  Here are a few of my favorite quotes we used:

    “Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk.  That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.”

    -Ernest Hemingway

    “I drink therefore I am.”
-W.C. Fields

    “Beer is the cause and solution to all of life’s problems.”

    -Homer Simpson

    “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”

    -Benjamin Franklin

    “It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can’t remember if it’s the thirteenth or the fourteenth.”

    -George Burns

    {Materials Needed}

    Color Printer

    Paper Cutter

    8.5 x 11″ 80lb card stock (in color of your choice)

    Scissors or Wire cutters

    Thin Bamboo Skewers

    Permanent Double Sided Tape

    OR, instead of card stock and tape you can use labels/stickers, and cut to size (I found mine at Paper Source)

    {Instructions}

    Step 1:  Design your template.  Print using the highest settings on your color printer to ensure that the
                 text is sharp.

    Step 2:  Cut each flag.  Make sure the strips are the same size (depending on what is on your flag).

    Step 3:  Using your scissors, cut the bamboo skewers into 6” length pieces.

    Step 4:  Fold the flags in half.
    Step 5:  Secure the flag around the top of the bamboo skewer using double sided tape.
                And you’re done!

    • Washing some of my favorites (that survived Charlie's projectile spitting up for his first 6 months) to pass down to #babyfredrickpartdeux. Anyone know any tricks to get rid of those nasty aged spit up stains? I've washed and tried everything I know and a lot just didn't survive
