California, you give so many lovely weddings! Today’s Santa Cruz wedding is vibrant, unique, and personal. And is just a reminder why I love this state so much. I’m digging the bride’s choice in color palette – purple & yellow is such an unexpectedly pretty combo! Also, branding lovers take note: this couple branded their wedding FABulously!
Processional: Cosmic Love by Florence + the MachineRecessional: Lovers in Japan (Osaka Sun Remix)by Coldplay(Side note: I’ve always wanted to hear that someone used this song in their wedding! It’s one of my favorites.) First Dance: I Love You But I Don’t Know What to Say by Ryan Adams
We didn’t want a traditional guestbook so we got creative with one of our passions: traveling. I put two large maps on homemade corkboards, one map of the US and one of the world. We asked our guests to write their names on a little flag and then pin the flag on a location significant to them – a place they had lived or traveled to — that they love. Then, in a map-themed journal, we had them write a travel tip about the location they pinned, so that someday if (or when!) we travel to that location we’ll have a great suggestion of a place to visit or stay, something to do, a restaurant to eat at, etc. Seriously LOVE this idea!
Advice to couples planning now? Simplify! Stick to the few things that are the most important to you and flesh out those details so you can be really proud of them. It’s better to do less at a higher quality than to try and tackle too many things and have nothing turn out amazing.
We created a day that was true to what we love, value, and are passionate about, rather than what was expected.
So much lovely in this wedding, so be sure to check out the gallery below for even more. Congrats to Elana & Will and big thanks to Sun & Sparrow for sending this beauty my way!
