• Intimate Mojave Desert Wedding: Stormie & Chris

mojave desert wedding | one summer day photographyIt’s Monday, which means we announced our Jouer Cosmetics giveaway winner!  Head over to our Facebook page to see if you’re the lucky one (and like us while you’re there, won’t you?)

Today’s wedding shows you that you don’t need a lot of time or a lot of stuff to have a beautiful wedding day.  Stormie and Chris planned their wedding in one month, while visiting Chris’s hometown of Palmdale, California.  The groom was about to attend Columbia University and they wanted to live in couple’s housing.  They were going to have a courthouse wedding, and then decided they wanted their closest family and friends present and to be surrounded by the beauty of the Mojave Desert.  Best decision ever.  I’m warning you, you’re going to want to have a desert wedding after you see this one!

Favorite moment of the day? When I asked my husband his favorite moment he said, “When I kissed you.” My favorite moment was when I first walked up to him at the wedding arbor. He was so handsome!

Advice for couples planning now? Be calm, go with the flow, and always keep perspective. There’s always a plan until you have to execute. Keep sight of the prize: your wedding moment and married life together. I had some plans and ideas of what I wanted for my wedding, like a make-up artist, a particular processional song, and even afterwards I wished I did my hair differently. But when it was time to actually do it, we didn’t have the time to get everything. We worked with what we had and it turned out great. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Essentially everyone invited was THE wedding party. But I did suggest that the men wear dark suits like the groom and women wear dusty colors of blue, green, pink, or even ivory/off-white. Elements unexpectedly came together to add to the desert ranch look, such as my mantilla veil, Chris’ morning suit, his brother’s cowboy hat, and the wedding arbor, which looked like the gateway to a ranch. The laid back and homemade, yet elegant style of our wedding made it us.

Isn’t this wedding full of the most gorgeous light that you’ve ever seen?  The desert surroundings, the small, intimate guest list, that stunning bride…I loved my big wedding, but if I did it all over again a small wedding is looking pretty good right about now!  Be sure to check out the gallery for even more beautiful images from One Summer Day.

Love everything about this wedding! Everything is gorgeous and we especially love how this couple stated that everyone at the wedding was the wedding party!

    • Mama said there'd be days like this... Just not 200 of them in a row good thing the company's cute. Also, currently loving this playmat from @lollalandusa - it's big and soft and cleans easily. And now we can practice sitting without worrying about head bumps when he falls over #quincyrhys #OLDfavefinds And just like that, Calvin is more little boy than baby #calvins3rdyear #boyhood
Got one little corner of the boys' soon-to-be-shared bedroom done today. Once the bunkbeds arrive I may totally rearrange things but for now I'm loving this @thelandofnod table for reading, doing puzzles, and there is a hidden bin underneath where I have a Lego topper hidden so we can make it a Lego table too. And store those puzzles with all of the little pieces that drive me insane Can't wait to finish and share more of this room (and move Cal in so I can move Quincy into the nursery and maybe get a little more sleep!) You can see the design process and inspiration that I did with the design services team from The Land of Nod on the blog as well (link in profile). #projectsharedboysbedroom #calvins3rdyear Waking up to the news of the devastation in Italy -- I left a piece of my heart there when we were on our honeymoon (this photo was taken in Orvieto). Sending thoughts and love to everyone there. So so sad.
