Family Photos 2013 | By Jennifer Roper Photography on Oh Lovely Day

Since Charlie was two weeks old, we’ve been lucky enough to have our wedding photographer and friend, Jennifer Roper, documenting our family. She took his newborn photos, 6 month photos, 18 month photos, 2 year photos, and now his 3 year photos. For this session, we wanted to start out with some in our new home because it has amazing light, and then move to one of Charlie’s favorite places, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

I loved this series of Charlie jumping on our bed and how much crazy fun he is having. Brilliant, and all Jennifer’s idea.

I learned some important lessons in this photo shoot. 1. You can’t wear a high maintenance outfit when wrangling a toddler. My shirt wouldn’t stay tucked in, my skirt didn’t stay where I wanted it, and I seriously needed a stylist present to keep me looking good. Since I didn’t have one, I sort of hated how my outfit looked in a lot of the photos. 2. Don’t pick your kid’s favorite place for photos – he will only want to play, not get photos taken. Duh. 3. A meltdown will happen. Exhibit A:

Luckily, this was at the end, though to be honest once we left the house he was really not into it. He had never been this difficult during family photos, but he has also never been so difficult in his life in general. The threes are so much more challenging than the twos! But if you want to authentically document that time, meltdowns should be included, right? And last but not least, one of my favorite shots – us just playing in “yellow noodles” at LACMA.

I can’t say enough how lucky we are to have these photos of our family. Many many thanks to Jennifer.

    • Love your guts from that fluffy hair on your head to those curled up toes ❤️ And don't forget to check out the blog today for a post on our experience with infant reflux and 7 tips for dealing with it, plus what products and treatments worked for us. Link in profile - tag your infant reflux and colicky baby parents. #22weeks #quincysweekbyweek #quincyrhys #whatquincywears #infantreflux #colic #momtips If there's one bit of wisdom I could share with other parents that I have learned with absolute certainty as a mom of three it is this: sleep begets sleep. The better they sleep, the more they sleep. The more they sleep, the better they sleep. It might not make sense that putting your baby down at 7 instead of 8 or 9 will get him to sleep longer, but by god it does. I'm gonna share all of my tips on getting your babes to be good sleepers. But first I wanted to talk about infant reflux -- our experience with it and what has worked for us in dealing with it -- because I know many of you are also struggling with it. And it's just beyond the pits. So head to the blog tomorrow to read that post and I promise to get the sleep one up soon. I feel like I could write a whole book on it at this point. Maybe I should write a whole book on it... 🤔 Also, This picture of Quincy from his nap today is totally distracting me from getting any work done at all. Because those cheeks and lips are all I can handle right now #quincyrhys
Took the littles to @lacma to wear them out, but I think this one wore me out instead #calvins2ndyear #OLDsfaveplacesinLA #lacma I slay (my momma) #quincyrhys
