Winter White Arizona Wedding | Andrew Jade Photography on Oh Lovely Day

It only took one photo from today’s wedding for me to start swooning. But each one is better than the last, showcasing the industrial setting, the rich and elegant decor and attire, and the love and personality of the couple. They all combine to form one fabulous wedding. A perfect winter wedding. Oh, and you must read the story about the couple’s dog below. But first, the bride shares her inspiration for the day:

I was inspired by French avant-garde entertaining paired with rustic industrial architecture. I have always loved combining something raw and harsh with delicate details. With my husband being a professional baseball player, we travel all over the country and have the privilege of staying in so many unique cities and in unique hotels. We both wanted our wedding day to reflect our travels and let our guests truly see what inspires us! From the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, dueling pianos in Las Vegas, and flea markets in Mississippi, to fine hotels like the Pfister in Milwaukee and the Langham in Pasadena…many of the places we visited and stayed helped inspire the decor and vibe of our wedding day.

When I think of our first look, I still get tears in my eyes. My husband is a fairly shy, quiet guy and he had wanted to do a first look so that he could treasure seeing me for the first time without being in front of the entire wedding group. I had initially objected, but with the nudging of our photographer, finally agreed. It was one of the best decisions we made. Brad stood in the huge roofless cathedral room with all of the chairs and rose petals laid out but not a soul in site.  Our photographer Andrew captured the exact moment when Brad turned around to see me, and the photos from that moment are my absolute favorite.

Ralph is our beloved French Bulldog who is truly our baby. We had our wedding cake creator Barbara create a groom’s cake that was a complete replica of Ralph. I had custom wine labels made with Ralph’s photos on them, and he even escorted Brad and I out of the ceremony. What is even more incredible, is that our wedding day was the first time Ralph had walked in public in over 2 months. Ralph suffered a devastating spine injury the day after Thanksgiving that resulted in open spine surgery. After a week in the hospital, he returned home paralyzed in his hind legs. Even though the odds were stacked against him, we went through a month of grueling physical therapy hoping he would one day walk again. Keep in mind this was the month of December, the month before our wedding. Talk about putting all the wedding stress in perspective! Every day Ralph got stronger and having him walk us down the aisle was such an incredible miracle!

Advice for couples planning now:  Have fun with your wedding day! Do what makes you happy and don’t focus on what is “by the book” proper. The more fun you have on your wedding day, the more fun your guests will have. And try to make the planning process something you and your future hubby can take part in together. Sure there were aspects that Brad didn’t care about, like flower girl dresses and linen colors, but he loved going out and listening to potential bands and menu tasting.

Brad’s mom has this amazing recipe for Fuzzy Navel Bundt cake. It has always been a favorite treat of ours. Two days before our wedding, our families descended onto our kitchen and baked 150 mini fuzzy navel bundt cakes for guests to take as they left the wedding. Our families really are incredible, and we honored them on our cake table by placing wedding photos of our grandparents and parents around our wedding cake.

    What made your wedding YOU?

From start to finish, our wedding gave tribute to the unique and quirky love that Brad and I share that has been shaped by travel, adventure, and most importantly…taking risks!

Don’t you just love the stark industrial setting contrasted with the feminine details like the tulle flower girl dresses and that stunning bridal gown? And the simple and minimalist style pairs perfectly with the winter white. And how amazing is the story of the couple’s adorable Frenchie Ralph? Congrats (and almost happy 1st anniversary) to Anna & Brad!

    • This dreamboat is six months old today (HOW!!!!??? ) but his momma is so so tired that I'm gonna post another pic soon with his #quincysmonthbymonth stats. Because right now all can manage to do is drink my wine and barely keep my eyes open. But really, he's a dreamboat. That's all I can say. #quincyrhys #fastestsixmonthsofmylife Trying to decide which quote on my workspace motivation wall to follow to get some work done while the kids (hopefully) nap, but it feels like a "punch today in the face" kind of day And you can see a tour of my shared office and Charlie's art room on the blog - go under "home tour" in the sidebar or search art room in search bar.
