• We’re Having A Baby (Again!)

Our family is growing! Oh Lovely Day

If you follow me on instagram you already know this (I just couldn’t wait to share the news!) but our family of three is becoming a family of four in August! Charlie is very excited to be a big brother and I’m thrilled (and a little scared) to be the momma of two.

After trying for a while I became very aware of what it feels like to be trying to get pregnant and hear and see lots of other women around you announcing their pregnancies. It is something I had taken for granted, having gotten pregnant with Charlie so quickly and easily. So I wanted to be open and share that this was a struggle for us. We had been trying for a year, and had a loss during that time as well. If you are reading this and it makes you feel like you are the only one not getting pregnant, I’m sorry. I’ve been there myself. Hang in there – things will work out and you are so NOT alone.

I had a pretty rough, sick first trimester (which is also really different from my pregnancy with Charlie). A couple of days before Christmas until this week, I’ve been super tired and sick most of the day. So if you have commented, emailed, submitted a wedding, or otherwise reached out to me and I haven’t responded, now you know why 🙂 And if I don’t post daily, it’s probably because I went to bed early or napped during Charlie’s nap. Please forgive me!

And now for the fun part – you tell me, what’s new in baby (aside from my newest obsession with Freshly Picked moccs)? It’s been a while since I’ve been pregnant so share your favorite maternity products, cute maternity clothes sources, awesome baby products and adorable etsy and baby shops. You probably know something that I don’t. And if you are a baby store, shop, product, etc. and want to collaborate, I am looking to partner with some awesome companies on some fun baby giveaways and am looking to try new things as well (it’s great research for my regular writing gigs at Momtastic and Babylist too), so definitely get in touch!

Alright guys, let the baby countdown begin! EEEEK!!

Congrats! My biggest thing was learning about and doing a modified version of Hypnobirthing for my labor and delivery. It was amazing and easy (yes, EASY) and nearly painless.

Cris, I’d love to know more about this! Is there a book or something? Or do you want to come be my doula? 🙂

On weekends, we nurse, cuddle, and nap together and it is my favorite. With the other boys I was always trying to get stuff done while they were napping. Since this is my last baby, I'm trying to really soak up all the moments I can -- one day I'll have plenty of time to get stuff done. For now I'll just be a hot mess that made the most of this baby time. Whenever I get a bit anxious about not getting things done, I re-read my favorite poem about motherhood: Mother, oh mother, come shake out your cloth! Empty the dustpan, poison the moth, Hang out the washing and butter the bread, Sew on a button and make up a bed. Where is the mother whose house is so shocking? She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking! Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo). Dishes are waiting and bills are past due (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo). The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo. Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue? (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.) Oh, cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby. Babies don't keep. Song for a Fifth Child By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton #battlefieldmotherhood #mommaandquincyselfies Saturday mornings are about bros, basketball and babywearing. Side note: loving the ring sling for babywearing in this heatwave. It's the least hot of all of my babywearing options. #mywildbird #babywearing #quincyrhys #OLDsfavefinds
