Canadian Cornfield Wedding | Mikaela Ruth Photography

Today’s wedding is every farm girl’s dream (and many city girls’ dreams too!). The bride grew up on the farm where she got married, she and her fiancé and their families completely renovated the barn to get it wedding-ready, and she even had her photo taken with her favorite cow. If this wedding isn’t totally and completely this couple, I don’t know what is.

The inspiration for our wedding began long before the engagement. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I knew I wanted to incorporate those roots (hence the photos we had taken with our favourite cow). What better way to honor those roots than to have our ceremony on my parents’ farm, in their 1920’s hip roof barn, where my sisters and I spent so much time playing as we grew up.

Advice for couples planning now? Follow YOUR dreams and give yourself the time to make them happen! My parents tried to convince us for months there was no way we could clean “that old thing out” (the barn),  repaint the outside, refinish the floor (that had many holes), build a big staircase up to it, etc. I guess having a fiancé in carpentry was handy! But, looking back, it was SO worth every hour we spent because, my dream came true!!

I knew exactly what I wanted for my special day and in order to do that I did a lot of it myself with the help of friends and family. Everything from the seating chart, the table runners, head table stage, back drop with the old windows which I hunted down myself, and the bar was made by a friend. Chad and I did so much ourselves because we wanted people to see our personalities come through!

How did you make your wedding YOU?

From the barn, to the cornfield reception, the cowboy boots, to the hay wagon ride…I think anyone who knows me would say my wedding was the definition of me!

I love seeing how much this couple was able to accomplish to make their dream wedding come true! And how special to get married on the farm where you grew up? Congrats to Angela & Chad!

    • A whole lot of yumminess going on over here. A little birdie told me these summer tees from @whistleandflute are on sale right now you're welcome. #calvinandquincy #twinning Ok, Chandra. Repeat after me: I will not have anymore babies. I will not have anymore babies. I WILL NOT HAVE ANYMORE BABIES. (This face makes me want ALLTHEBABIES )
My friend @salvagemaria and I are having a sample sale next weekend in the miracle mile area of LA for you local peeps. Lots of baby gear and goodies, women's & baby clothing & accessories, blog-related props and samples, and some Salvage Maria wares. Sat. 8/27, 9:30-12:30. RSVP for address. We'll be doing a pre-sale of some items over at @ohlovelydaysale on Wednesday, so follow there for updates and info. Tag your local friends! #OLDsamplesale I shared a very poorly executed OOTD share on snap (fashion blogger I'm not!) but it is really the #momiform I wear every day. Like errrrryday. @gigipip hat, @madewell sunnies, @loyal_hana jumpsuit (nursing friendly but anyone can wear and both flattering and comfy!) @oldnavy sandals. Plus my @madebymarywithlove bar necklace that I never take off and a @chewbeads teething necklace for when I'm babywearing (I alternate our @ergobaby @mywildbird sling and @sollybabywrap depending on what we're doing, how hot it is, and what I'm wearing.) And my @fawndesign diaper bag. And Quincy, of course. I also love that I can add a cardi or chambray button down, switch my sandals to booties, and switch to a fall hat and transition the same outfit for fall wear as well. The older I get the more I love the idea of a more simple capsule wardrobe. These would be my staples for sure. What are your favorite wardrobe pieces or do you do a capsule wardrobe? Would love to hear!
