I don’t know about you, but I find something so fun and sweet about the idea of a summer camp wedding. Sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows with all of your loved ones – pretty much a perfect celebration, right? That’s what today’s couple thought, and their mostly DIY campground wedding looks like it was a truly a fun time.

My husband and I love the outdoors. We love hiking and camping and the mountains, so the best wedding we could imagine was essentially camping for the weekend with everyone we love. We wanted to be able to spend more than a couple hours with our guests, so we decided to host them for four days in the woods!

Advice for couples planning now? Decide what is truly the most important thing to you and focus on that. The rest is all accessory. For us, that was spending time with our friends and family and sharing in such a joyous occasion, so a couple hours just wouldn’t do. So most of our planning focus was around a creating a multiple day event.

Most everything in our wedding was DIY. We created and put together the table decor and flowers. We constructed and hung all the lighting and structures. I made all the napkins by hand. I designed the save the dates/wedding and shower invitations with a friend of mine. We cut up a fallen tree to create the centerpieces, cake stands and cake labels. We used other reclaimed wood, chalkboard paint and chalk for signage. The most special project was that my dress was made entirely from the fabric of my grandmothers wedding dress and the lace of my mother’s. It was an incredibly special way to bring some heritage to the day.

    What made your wedding YOU?

Really everything about the weekend encompassed who my husband and I are and what we love to do. The atmosphere was woodsy, natural and whimsical. It was warm and inviting and simply was a wonderful way for amazing people to get away and truly spend time with each other.

You know I love weddings that are truly personal and represent the couple. Isn’t that the best? Congrats to Ashley and Trace!

    • On weekends, we nurse, cuddle, and nap together and it is my favorite. With the other boys I was always trying to get stuff done while they were napping. Since this is my last baby, I'm trying to really soak up all the moments I can -- one day I'll have plenty of time to get stuff done. For now I'll just be a hot mess that made the most of this baby time. Whenever I get a bit anxious about not getting things done, I re-read my favorite poem about motherhood: Mother, oh mother, come shake out your cloth! Empty the dustpan, poison the moth, Hang out the washing and butter the bread, Sew on a button and make up a bed. Where is the mother whose house is so shocking? She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking! Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo). Dishes are waiting and bills are past due (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo). The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo. Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue? (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.) Oh, cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby. Babies don't keep. Song for a Fifth Child By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton #battlefieldmotherhood #mommaandquincyselfies Saturday mornings are about bros, basketball and babywearing. Side note: loving the ring sling for babywearing in this heatwave. It's the least hot of all of my babywearing options. #mywildbird #babywearing #quincyrhys #OLDsfavefinds
