Beautiful Maternity Shoot Inspiration | Oh Lovely Day

Now that I’m in my third trimester (and rapidly approaching my due date) I’ve been thinking a lot about maternity photos. I didn’t do maternity photos during my first pregnancy – I really wasn’t interested in being photographed. And even though I looked way better during my first pregnancy (I swear I’m cellulite from the neck down this time!), something about this pregnancy has me wanting to document it more. Maybe because it might be my last time, or maybe because I would love photos with my son Charlie and my bump. Either way, I’m prepping for a possible maternity shoot, and thought I’d share some of the photos that are inspiring me.

I’m torn between the idea of some maternity boudoir-style photos (I think they are SO beautiful – but there’s the whole issue of my being made of cellulite from the neck down…) and momma/child/bump photos. Maybe both? Not that I don’t love my husband and want to include him… but I don’t think I want to include him this time. It’s more about motherhood for me – about how amazing our bodies are and what we can handle and do and go through, and how much love just radiates in the photos. Not that having the dad included takes away from that, but I just love the motherhood focus.

Also, I’m trying to find some pretty things to wear – simple, flowy, almost sheer for some silhouette photos, and a little sexy while still covering up. If you have any ideas or sources for ideas, please share!

Did you do maternity photos? What about boudoir-style maternity photos? Any advice? And be sure to check out my maternity shoot inspiration board on Pinterest – so many more photos there! But aren’t these all just so beautiful?

I wasn’t really interested in having any maternity photos taken until now. With a little less than 10 weeks left to go, and with our not planning to have another child, I’m really thinking I should get some taken. This is a once in a lifetime experience and I really think I want some photos to remember it by. But what to wear?!

    • Today had some highs and some lows. It was way way way too hot to be this pregnant and it turns out that all the pressure and pain I'm feeling is not this baby's head peeking out yet (if I could see down there I would swear he would be looking back up at me), as there is no dilation happening so far. Upside, I saw Dave Grohl at my OB's office (with his pregnant wife, obvs) and he said hi and gave me a sympathetic smile. I almost peed my pants (more than usual) as I seriously love Dave Grohl. Also, this pretty pretty @doielounge robe showed up at my door and I can wait to treat myself to wearing it post-baby. Presents make me happy. So I think presents and Dave Grohl beat the heat and sealed cervix. For today... Side note: if you want to DIY a sequin hanger of your own, I shared a DIY for it a while back. Just search DIY sequin hanger on the blog (link in profile). It, and said robe, are both perfect for wedding photos, bridesmaid gifts, etc.
#tbt to baby Charlie, looking all cute and getting me excited for spit bubbles, razzing, and baby laughs all over again. And also to get me through the hottest day of the year at 9 months pregnant. Eff off heat!
