Big Sur Elopement | Evynn LeValley Photography | Oh Lovely Day

I’ve been on an elopement kick lately, and after today’s dreamy Big Sur elopement I’m sure you can see why. There’s something so utterly romantic about you and your love, exchanging vows and getting married, and having almost no one else around. You can do it completely your way – start your marriage and partnership however you want. It isn’t for everyone, but it definitely gives you something to think about. I’d love to renew my vows this way someday…

From the bride, Mary, on how they met and why they eloped:

Matt and I first met when we were awkward 12 year olds. We dated briefly in the 8th grade, but due to a mutual shyness and lack of any sort of communication skills we gradually drifted apart. Many years later we met again when I was visiting New York for an artist retreat. We fell in love quickly, and after a few visits back and forth between New York and Vancouver, B.C. I was soon packing my bags and moving to the U.S to be with him. A few months later Matt surprised me by getting down on one knee while we were walking across the Williamsburg bridge. He had my favorite Stevie Nicks songs playing and a back up audience of some of our closest friends. I didn’t have any hesitation saying yes. In September of this year we made another big decision to move across the country to San Francisco. We wanted to commemorate this big leap forward and our commitment to each other, so we decided to elope shortly after. We drove down to Big Sur on a sunny weekend in October, found a location and got married the following evening. The setting was beyond beautiful and was the perfect place to start this new adventure together. Eloping allowed us to focus our attention entirely on one another and also helped with exchanging our handwritten vows with as much honesty one can muster. After we read our vows we went for a quick celebratory dip in the freezing cold ocean and drank champagne on a private beach until the sun set on us. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I’ve never been able to picture myself walking down an aisle and having a million eyes on me. Instead, I got to walk barefoot down a rocky path toward the gaze of the man I love. It was incredibly romantic.

    Congrats to Mary & Matt!

    • The last 5 out of 7 mornings have started with a giant pee diaper explosion and tiny absorbant gel balls everywhere (today they made it past the diaper, pjs, and sleep sack). When you're trying to get the baby nursed and the preschooler ready for school, and you have to add a bath in the mix it's really not cool. Plus, so gross guys! I'm throwing a major stink-eye @pampers way right now and am researching a switch to cloth diapering. But look how happy Calvin is to get an unexpected bath treat - even if he is hungry. #calvinlovesthebath and I still love our @pujbaby tub, especially when we just need to do a quick bath like this morning. It's nice that one great product can help salvage a morning made hard because of one bad product.| UPDATE: I've tried going up a size - still happens and only makes even more gel mess b/c the diapers are bigger - and Honest diapers are great for us during the day but don't work for us overnight - they gave Calvin really bad diaper rash in the past. Haven't yet tried Huggies, 7th Gen or cloth. Thanks for the suggestions though! I should have mentioned that originally because I should have known all of you awesome mommas would have had lots of great suggestions. Pampers swaddlers always worked great when Charlie was a baby (though this happened occasionally) and based on all of your comments it sounds like there's a diaper that works for every baby!
When a gift from @jcrew shows up at your door and it isn't something from their own store, this is definitely the next best thing! Thank you, thank you! Can't wait to eat them & peruse and share their new #jcrewbridal collection as well.
