Dia De Los Muertos Wedding Inspiration

dia de los muertos wedding inspiration | oh lovely day

Happy Halloween! Since Dia de los Muertos is almost here I thought I’d put together a little Dia de los Muertos wedding inspiration for you. I’ve always wanted to throw a Dia de los Muertos birthday party for myself (my birthday shares the day), but I’m not the kind of person to throw myself birthday parties, especially now that my son’s birthday is a week after mine and I’m busy planning that celebration. And I’m pretty sure my husband wouldn’t get it and execute as I imagine it should be, so this will have to do. It would make for a fun and festive wedding, wouldn’t it?

And speaking of Halloween, what is everyone dressing up like this year? You can follow along on instagram to see my family’s Halloween fun. Have a safe and fun one!

    Gold + Black Wedding Inspiration

Today’s guest poster is my dear friend Chrissy with a color palette that is one of my absolute favorites! Enjoy :)

Well hello there Oh Lovely Day readers! Chrissy from The Perfect Palette here! Just stopping by to share a little color inspiration while Chandra is away! Looking for wedding day colors that are classic, elegant, and all kinds of pretty? Shades of black and gold always have me at hello. And I’m hoping you can see why?

I think what I love most is that there’s really no shortage of pretty possibilities when it comes to bringing this lovely color palette to life! Like this beautiful lantern send off for instance. Goodness! That almost looks too pretty to eat! Am I right?

So tell me… what sort of colors evoke a classic elegance in your mind? And might you use a classic palette like this one for your upcoming wedding and/or party? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Looking for more wedding color ideas? Be sure to hop on over to The Perfect PaletteI promise there’s a whole lot of color inspiration just waiting to be explored! And I’d love to help you find the perfect palette for your special day!

    {Color Crush} Indigo Wedding

color crush on indigo by oh lovely day

I’ve been majorly crushing on some indigo lately.  It actually started years ago with an eye shadow.  It was love at first sight and ever since I’ve been obsessed with that deep inky shade of blue.  Then I saw this on instagram from Kristina of Lovely Morning and 100 Layer Cake and my obsession was reignited.  I’m now determined to dye every white tee I own indigo (and a few of Charlie’s too, since they don’t stay white anyways).  Then I thought, “how cool would this be, translated into wedding inspiration!?”  But first…

I love the shades of indigo and how unique each pattern of the tie dye can be.  And the color and patterns inspire other translations of pattern and palette.  It made me think of cobalt blue china, of denim, of vintage bottles.  Of all the things you could bring into a wedding.

Just think of the possibilities with an indigo wedding!  You could go modern or rustic, vintage or classic.  But I really envision it as an outdoor summer wedding.  What about you?  Crushing on indigo too?

{Color Crush} Shades of Summer: Peach, Coral + Glittery Gold from The Perfect Palette

Chrissy here from The Perfect Palette! Happy to be pop over and share some color inspiration with you all while Chandra is off taking a much deserved break! I don’t know about you, but with summer just around the corner, I just can’t help but think of all the pretty summer shades! Behold – gorgeous shades of peach, touches of coral and glittery gold! I’m pretty much in love with these colors and I hope you can see why! I just love how the lighter peachy hues are contrasted by the metallic golden shades. Oh, and who could go without mentioning this fabulous cake?

Make no mistake about it! Sparkly gold has absolutely captured my heart here lately. Mix in peachy tones and touches of whimsy and you’ll have a party palette that’s just full of possibilities. So here you are, ladies! Just a little sunshine to brighten your week! So what do you think? Are you passionate for peach? Crushing on coral? Or maybe a little ga-ga for gold?

{Inspiration Board} Coral + Metallics: A Wedding Inspired by Oh Lovely Day’s Look from Burnett’s Boards

Aloha! Sara from Burnett’s Boards stopping by today.  I was bowled over and so honored when Chandra asked me to guest post here on Oh Lovely Day! I’ve been a long time fan of this blog and so when it got its facelift a couple months back I feel in love with it all over again. I love the colors on this site’s design: the coral-y orange, gold, hint of silver – it’s perfect, fresh, and modern! I wanted to create a wedding inspiration board that complimented the gorgeous look of this blog. Enjoy!

    • Are you kidding me @taylorjoelledesigns? These big bro/baby bro matching hedgehog shirts are too much. And are only fueling my obsession with dressing the boys alike. Thank you so much :) also, why are hedgehogs so damn cute?
A very special #tbt of me with my baby brother Abe, who as we speak is at the hospital (very far from me) with his wife having his very own baby boy. I almost can't believe it. Please send good vibes and easy birth thoughts to his wife Des!
