Dia De Los Muertos Wedding Inspiration

dia de los muertos wedding inspiration | oh lovely day

Happy Halloween! Since Dia de los Muertos is almost here I thought I’d put together a little Dia de los Muertos wedding inspiration for you. I’ve always wanted to throw a Dia de los Muertos birthday party for myself (my birthday shares the day), but I’m not the kind of person to throw myself birthday parties, especially now that my son’s birthday is a week after mine and I’m busy planning that celebration. And I’m pretty sure my husband wouldn’t get it and execute as I imagine it should be, so this will have to do. It would make for a fun and festive wedding, wouldn’t it?

And speaking of Halloween, what is everyone dressing up like this year? You can follow along on instagram to see my family’s Halloween fun. Have a safe and fun one!

    {Color Crush} Indigo Wedding

color crush on indigo by oh lovely day

I’ve been majorly crushing on some indigo lately. ¬†It actually started years ago with an eye shadow. ¬†It was love at first sight and ever since I’ve been obsessed with that deep inky shade of blue. ¬†Then I saw this on instagram from Kristina of Lovely Morning and 100 Layer Cake and my obsession was reignited. ¬†I’m now determined to dye every white tee I own indigo (and a few of Charlie’s too, since they don’t stay white anyways). ¬†Then I thought, “how cool would this be, translated into wedding inspiration!?” ¬†But first…

I love the shades of indigo and how unique each pattern of the tie dye can be.  And the color and patterns inspire other translations of pattern and palette.  It made me think of cobalt blue china, of denim, of vintage bottles.  Of all the things you could bring into a wedding.

Just think of the possibilities with an indigo wedding!  You could go modern or rustic, vintage or classic.  But I really envision it as an outdoor summer wedding.  What about you?  Crushing on indigo too?

Chrissy here from The Perfect Palette! Happy to be pop over and share some color inspiration with you all while Chandra is off taking a much deserved break! I don’t know about you, but with summer just around the corner, I just can’t help but think of all the pretty summer shades! Behold ‚Äď gorgeous shades of peach, touches of coral and glittery gold! I’m pretty much in love with these colors and I hope you can see why! I just love how the lighter peachy hues are contrasted by the metallic golden shades. Make no mistake about it! Sparkly gold has absolutely captured my heart here lately. Mix in peachy tones and touches of whimsy and you’ll have a party palette that’s just full of possibilities. So here you are, ladies! Just a little sunshine to brighten your week! So what do you think? Are you passionate for peach? Crushing on coral? Or maybe a little ga-ga for gold?

{Inspiration Board} Coral + Metallics: A Wedding Inspired by Oh Lovely Day’s Look from Burnett’s Boards

Aloha! Sara from Burnett’s Boards stopping by today. ¬†I was bowled over and so honored when Chandra asked me to guest post here on Oh Lovely Day! I’ve been a long time fan of this blog and so when it got its facelift a couple months back I feel in love with it all over again. I love the colors on this site’s design: the coral-y orange, gold, hint of silver – it’s perfect, fresh, and modern! I wanted to create a wedding inspiration board that complimented the gorgeous look of this blog. Enjoy!

    • THREE MONTHS OLD (and two days)! Wow. I cannot believe it. You might be the smiley-est baby I've ever met, which is saying a lot considering how miz you were your first few weeks of life. You are doing so much better with your reflux (thank you Prevacid!) and can finally lay flat, don't scream in your infant seat, and mostly tolerate the bath. You still freak out a little when I try to take you places, but staying home for three months will do that to ya. We're slowly venturing out, taking walks, and getting a bit more social. You still love to nurse and be worn but you also love being put in your bouncer and on your playmat/gym. You are babbling like crazy, laughing, smiling at your brothers a lot (even Calvin, even when he's a little rough with his love). They both love you so much and think you are so cute. Tonight Charlie said "Quincy, how cute are you!? No, seriously, HOW CUTE ARE YOU!?" You weigh a whopping 15 pounds (your brothers were only 13.5 at 4 months!) You have so many rolls I have to make sure you aren't hiding food or growing a garden in them. And you have sweaty feet! It's so weird. Your night sleep is not bad but not amazing - you sleep from 7:30 or 8 pm till 1:30 or 2 am, eat, and then go back to sleep but lately are waking up every 1.5-2 hrs after that even though you don't seem to be hungry. You still sleep in the rock-n-play so I'm hoping to get you in your bassinet soon since your reflux is improving. Calvin was sleeping 10-12 straight hours already. But you take great naps - one 3 hour nap in the morning and usually a 2 hr nap in the afternoon. You're pretty dependable that way, and for the record both of your brothers struggled with naps for a while. I'd rather have more night sleep but I'll take what I can get. You've discovered your hands and are trying to suck your thumb/fist. When you cry, you really cry. Like full on wailing or no crying at all. And you have white duck fluff sticking up all over your head. I love how you stretch and pucker your lips when I take you out of the swaddle and how when you first wake up and focus your eyes on me you greet me with the biggest smile ever. Every single time. #quincysmonthbymonth Los Angeles is such a show off in springtime.
Neighborhood strollin' with 2 of ma 3 homies #calvinandquincy Boy mom milestone today - the first time we had to have something removed from an ear. Saved the blue pebble for the baby book so I could show Charlie why his dad has new white hairs in his beard. Never a dull moment. I guess I'm lucky it's taken this long to happen... #beerme #charlesdashiell
