    {It’s in the Details} Cheese, Please! The Wedding Cheese Table

    ways to serve and include cheese in your wedding by oh lovely day
    Did you see yesterday’s farm-to-table wedding shoot?  Because if so, I hinted about today’s post.  What could be better than serving cheese at your wedding?  I mean, it’s CHEESE!  Whether you’re having a low-key backyard wedding or a fancy classic and cool feté, you can include a cheese display.  Or if you don’t think it quite fits in with your wedding style, try it for the rehearsal dinner!  The above photo is perfect for a cocktail hour cheese display, and below are a few other ways to do a cheese table at your wedding.

    You could have a cheese display table with chalkboard descriptions of the cheeses set up during cocktail hour.  Or, if cake isn’t your thing, you can have a cheese wheel cake in lieu of wedding cake (just be sure to serve some other desserts.)

    If you’re having a low-key picnic-style wedding reception, say in your backyard, you could set up a cute table with cheese displayed for guests, with a cute sign like the photo above.

    The best venue for a cheese table would be a vineyard wedding.  You could display the cheeses and give suggested pairings with a wine the vineyard offers or that you’re serving at the bar.  It is like a mini-wine and cheese tasting at your wedding.  Perfect for foodies!
    Do you love the idea of a cheese display table at weddings?  How would you include cheese?

    {It’s in the Details + Planning Tips} Thanking Your Wedding Guests

    put thank yous at each place setting for your wedding guests | via oh lovely day

    I’m a big fan of manners.  Charlie (my toddler) already knows how to say thank you, please, sorry, and even says “bless” when someone sneezes.  Thank you cards are a must, but why only thank your guests for gifts?  They should be thanked for attending your wedding and participating in your celebration.  Many of them spend a great deal of time, energy, and money to be there, and they likely have done a lot for you in your life, or you wouldn’t have invited them.  That’s why I love placing a thank you at each place setting.  Remind your guests how much you love and appreciate them!

    I want to be clear that this in no way excuses you from sending the traditional thank you card for wedding gifts received.  A personally written card is also a must, but I think this makes for a nice and thoughtful touch for your guests.
    I also wanted to mention that aside from the bottom left photo all of the thank yous have the same message.  It might be time to get more personal and creative – bonus points for that!
    Do you love the detail of a thank you at each place setting?  How would you make the idea even better?

    {It’s in the Details} Chair Decor – Because Chairs Deserve to Look Pretty Too!

    I know I’ve posted on chairware before, but since chairs are the perfect canvas for you to add some pretty, and because there are so many ways to do it, I think it is worthy of a second post!  Here are some new ways to pretty up your chairs.

    {Chic Update on the Chair Sash}

    Honestly, I was never a big fan of the chair sash. They often look too fussy or cheap.  But take a basic fabric in a classic color and drape it on your chair in a new but simple way and it becomes FAB.

    {Lace & Ruffles}

    There is nothing prettier than a delicate sheer fabric in lace or peachy pink tones. I don’t know which I love more – the lace chair cap or the peach ruffles!

    {Updated Ribbon Chair Decor}

    While ribbon chair decor is not new, I love the way these examples make an aging trend new again.  The way the ribbons are tied on horizontally in the photo on the left and the way the ribbons are really long but chopped off at different lengths on the right are a new take on the ribbon chair decor.  And joining the Mr. and Mrs. chairs with a garland on top of the ribbons is a lovely touch.

    Do you love seeing chairs prettied-up?  Or are you tired of chairware?  If you like chair decor, what is your favorite way of seeing it done?

    Also, I’m taking requests on my weekly features!  Do you have a planning problem or issue you need addressed, a DIY you’d like to see, a color palette you need an inspiration board for, or a detail you want featured?  Leave it in the comments or head over to my facebook page and let me know.

    Planning a fall or winter wedding, or a rustic woodland wedding?  If so, today’s Details post is just for you.  Antlers are pretty, unique, and just plain cool.  And they’re also super versatile: they can be rustic, modern, plain or painted, and used in almost every aspect of your wedding.  Here are some of my favorite ways to use them.

    So, are you lovin’ the antlers?  That bottom one is on my wish list!
