    {Real Wedding} Liberty & Jason: Vintage Country-Chic Wedding

    Today’s wedding is right up my alley.  It’s a little bit vintage, a little bit country, and a whole lotta pretty!  Not to mention this bride is wearing the Kate Spade shoes I have been coveting for ages.  So much drool-worthy inspiration here, so get your cup of coffee, get comfortable, and get your pinning finger ready!

    I saw a picture of Kevin Costner at his wedding with his bride and they had taken pictures in front of an old fashioned truck. I knew immediately I wanted to intertwine this truck idea into our wedding. At first, our save-the-dates had postage of a red old-fashioned truck that read “Getting’ Hitched!” And my uncle owns a car dealership and he just happened to have a 1950’s red truck! We drove this truck from the ceremony to the reception.

    {DIY}
    My bridesmaids and I DIY’d our s’mores favors – they took us about 3 hours to assemble the week of the wedding. The s’mores had a tag on them that said “Thanks S’more.” I also had wood signs engraved with “Jason Loves Liberty S’more” and “Liberty Loves Jason S’more.”

    {Personal Touches}
    I found a picture of a backyard wedding that had old fashioned lights strung across the yard and really wanted them for our wedding, but found they were very expensive to rent. My dad promised me that we would have the lights because they were very important to me. The week of the wedding my dad, fiancé, and uncle spent a day putting the poles in the ground and hanging the lights from the roof. They made a huge difference in the wedding because the lights brought a sense of romance once the sun went down!

    Jason and Liberty wanted to incorporate their love for vintage Americana (Jason is in the Army) and the outdoors. Using birchwood, moss, mazanita branches, daisies, rocks and other natural elements, Jason and Liberty created a wedding that was the perfect combination of their two favorite things.
    From Liberty:
    My vision for our wedding was a rustic, country theme. My main goal for the wedding was for guests to really feel like the wedding came from the heart. I wanted guests to see décor and special parts of the wedding and think, “oh my gosh, that’s the cutest thing I have ever seen!” I didn’t have a specific color scheme, but the wedding was made up of champagnes, ivory’s, laces, and a lot of wood!  More than anything I wanted everyone to feel the love that Jason and I share, and I tried to bring that out through the details of our wedding! Everything in our wedding was made possible by our amazing wedding planner, Katie Webb, from Intertwined.

    Did I tell you?  The pretty florals, the fab bridesmaids’ style, the sweet DIY and personal touches, and THOSE SHOES.  I love every single thing.  It was, as the bride hoped, the cutest thing!  Plus I feel like I got a feel of who this couple is through their wedding, which I always think is the ultimate goal – it means you made your wedding YOU.  And such a job well done to all of the vendors involved.  So tell me, what’s your favorite part of this lovely country-chic wedding?

    {Real Wedding} Katy & Doug: Rustic + Elegant Sonoma Winery Wedding

    Today’s wedding is a stunner, but I think I like the couple’s story even more!  Katy and Doug’s companies were partners, so the two had a working relationship over the phone for years, but had never met in person.  Finally, Doug invited Katy to his company holiday party, since it was being held close to the city where Katy lived at the time, and they finally met face-to-face.  Four months later Doug proposed, and 15 months later they were married!  I love stories like that.  So here’s some of that stunner of a wedding I mentioned earlier…napa winery wedding on oh lovely day | photos by rebecca gosselin

    Everyone told me “It goes by so fast,” but I guess I thought my wedding would be the exception.
    It was not.  So I have the same advice I received:  Enjoy every second.

    Ours was a destination wedding which meant a lot of guests traveled quite a long distance to celebrate with us.  So we wanted to do something for our guests to show our appreciation for their support.  We thought a truly personal thank you gift would be a cookbook, which we made from recipes the guests were asked to submit when they received their invitations.

    While dating, my husband and I quickly learned that we loved good food and wine, and cooking together.  So we tried to incorporate these loves into our wedding celebration.

    Don’t these two have the coolest story?  And how much do you love this wedding?  I’m a bit obsessed with the florals (that bridal bouquet & button mum ring pillow – I DIE!)  Plus, the DIY details like the cookbook favors, the cork placecard holders, and the ice cream cone petal cones are such great touches.  Any favorite touches for you?

    {Inspiration Board} Color Palette Spotlight: Soft Hues

    Color can really set the tone for your wedding.  A bright cheery palette denotes fun, a black and white palette suggests formal elegance, adding graphics can make it modern.  My personal favorite color palettes are soft & muted.  Here are my three favorites:

    {Real Wedding} Amanda & JR: Simple & Classic Vintage DIY Wedding

    Sometimes it is refreshing to see a simple, classic-with-a-touch-of-vintage wedding.  Today is one of those times.  There isn’t an abundance of “stuff” or of DIY projects, although the bride did DIY the favors and florals.  Sweet and simple is on the agenda for today!  Enjoy.

    A little bit from the bride:
    I wanted to keep things simple and classic and a touch vintage, so details like a bird cage veil, a magnolia arch and a collection of found bottles & vases all got me really excited as I started to pull things together. My dress had the slightest tinge of pink to it so I played off that with flowers in a range on peaches, pinks and olive greens. We ended up finding all of the flowers we used to decorate at Whole Foods, the grocery store and then a small local florist. And my mom was a huge part of bringing it all together. When she got into town, she ran countless errands with me – tracking down just the right flowers, scouring the city for the perfect hair accessories to hold down my veil, and gathering countless bottles. It all came together surprisingly smoothly, though.

    The combination of the gorgeous photos by Moss & Isaac and the lovely venue (Parkside Mansion) showcase the bride’s vision perfectly I think!  What do you think?  Is simple and classic your style?

    {Real Wedding} Jennifer & Ben: Pretty DIY Tucson Wedding with Mexican Flair

    It has been a while since I posted a real wedding, and I’m making up for it by sharing a beauty with you today!  This wedding is so pretty, full of DIY, but has a Mexican flair that makes it really unique.  Lots of eye candy for you today!

    From Jennifer, the bride:
    As far as how we made our wedding “us” we wanted to pull in a lot of rustic, Mexican inspiration to keep the tone of our wedding mellow and comfortable (we like to think of ourselves as being the laid back types) while still keeping things sweet, delicate and pretty. We used a lot of rustic things like burlap and cacti and then juxtaposed that with more feminine materials like ribbon and lace. Our colors were peach and cactus green with some hints of champagne and ivory. I am obsessed with garlands and hanging type decorations so we did a ton of that. We had handmade papel picado garlands imported from Mexico and the rest we made. We also had a graphic designer construct papel picado wraps for the hurricane vases on each table (as well as the matching “bride” and “groom” garlands for our chairs) and tied them with burlap twine. I stole the idea for the garland around the arch where the ceremony was from an anthroplogie display. The one at anthropologie was coffee filters only, I added additional tissue paper, lace, and ribbon. The ribbon/flower garland hanging from the trees was something I just came up with accidentally while playing with ribbon and silk flowers. Actually, so much of our decor really came from me sitting at my dining room table playing with all the pretty things I had gathered. :) And of course my family and friends helped execute all my prototypes in what I called my wedding factory.

    I love the succulents mixed with the feminine color palette and lace, don’t you?  I’ve actually been to a wedding at this venue – my cousin got married there close to ten years ago, and it was a gorgeous place! What is your favorite part of this lovely wedding?

    {Real Wedding} Vanessa & Scott: California Rustic Garden Wedding

    This wedding has a dreamy fairy tale feeling to it.  Maybe it is the pretty pink & peach details, or maybe it is the fabulous photos by Jen Disney, or maybe it is the gorgeous bride…I mean these bridal shots are like model magazine worthy.  Beautiful!

    I love so many things about this sweet wedding: her shoes, the preserves favors/escort cards duo (great idea, btw to kill two birds with one stone!), and that outdoor photobooth is so unique!  Here are a few details from Vanessa:
    Maravilla Gardens was a magical place to have our wedding. We had a lot of help from our friends and family during the planning process which helped make our day so intimate and personal.  Family flew in from out of state to join us and the ceremony was performed by my Uncle, both of which helped make it feel like not only were Scott and I coming together, but our families were as well.
    Our parents contributed so much time and energy helping with the homemade jams, the slide show of Scott and I, and the mason jar votives, and so much more.  Everywhere I turned there were things that made me smile! Scott and I love each other, our family & friends, the outdoors, lace (well maybe that is just me) and a good party! It was these things that we love which helped guide us in planning our wedding day.  We couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect day.  And to top it all off, SPARKLERS! It was magical from start to finish.

    At the end of the day, you should feel exactly like Vanessa felt – that everywhere you look you see the people and things you love all around at your wedding and that your day felt like magic.  You won’t get that if you don’t have the kind of wedding that YOU want.  You know, like in The Notebook where Ryan Gosling is all intense and asking Rachel McAdams “What do you want? Not what I want, not what he wants, not what your parents want…What do YOU want?” (yes, I have that movie memorized!) Well, that’s how I think you should plan your wedding.  You should think of your guests’ comfort, you should consider what is important to your parents, you should accomodate people as best you can, but you should DO what YOU want.  If you want a small wedding, or a black wedding gown, or pies instead of cake, or no kids at your wedding: whatever it is, you should do what you want.  And now, because I brought him up, I’ll leave you with a little tid bit from the most practical (and hottest) wedding advice giver:

    How much do you love this wedding?  Do you agree that you should ultimately do what YOU want when planning your wedding?  Is Ryan Gosling your go-to for wedding advice?  He should be!  (Check out my Pinterest board of Ryan Gosling wedding advice!)  Chime in!
