    Celebrating An All New Oh Lovely Day

    celebrating oh lovely day | throwing sequin confetti | photo by amy stone
    The day is finally here! After what seems like an eternity, the new Oh Lovely Day is complete. Two years of dreaming, five months of working with amazing designers and a brilliant developer, days of around-the-clock work (I also owe a ton of thanks to a wonderful and understanding husband and son) – it has all resulted in what you are seeing today. There will be bugs I’m sure (if you’re still seeing wonky things after a couple of days, please let me know!). You may notice some spacing and alignment issues in the posts transfered over from the old blog, and I’m slowly correcting those little things. But all-in-all, you are getting a bigger, better, lovelier Oh Lovely Day.

    So what’s new? Well, there’s more inspiration and it is easy to find! Dropdown menus from the main headers will give you more options to search for specific inspiration. For example, if you hover over “Inspiration” you’ll see that not only can you find my inspiration boards & details posts, but you can search by color, style, and season! You can hover on features and choose from real weddings, engagements, and styled shoots. In the right sidebar you can follow the lovely across social media, you can search by topic, keyword, or our archives. You’ll see sections in the sidebar that will take you to our regular features like Behind the Veil and Lovely Ever After, as well as our most popular posts.

    We also have a ‘pin it’ button directly on our featured photos so you can pin to your heart’s content. And we’ll have a photo gallery under new features so you can see even more and pin one photo at a time rather than a grouping if you prefer.

    I needed some new photos to match a new blog, and I thought why not make it a celebratory shoot? So I gathered up some things that represent the blog and me, and incorporated them into this fun shoot with Amy Stone Photography. I hope you enjoy it and love the new site as much as I do.

    So, what do you think? I’d love to hear what’s working for you, what isn’t, what you love, what you’d like to see more of. Try out the gallery below and pin your favorite individual images. And come by tomorrow for a big big BIG celebratory giveaway of some of my favorite things!

    {advice for planning couples}
    I think the best advice is to plan a wedding that reflects who you truly are as a couple. It is a day in your life together and should feel as such, on that day, and when you look back on it.

    We have a large family and, at the time a daughter (we now have a son too), and it was very important to have our wedding reflect the importance our family plays in our lives. We involved our parents in the ceremony, as well as my husband’s godfather, and my brother is the one that married us.  We also included our daughter in the ceremony by giving her a necklace from both of us. From the beginning, we knew that we wanted her to be a big part of that day because she was the one that had already made us a family. Every detail of the wedding was made with our family in mind. I chose a dress that would allow me to play with my daughter, we picked food that was kid-friendly (as we have over 15 nieces and nephews).  We love the outdoors and have simple tastes and also wanted the wedding to reflect that.

    I’ve poured over these photos for hours and I’m still not tired of them.  Just so so lovely.  And congrats to the couple on their second little one!
