    {Lovely Favors} Favor Ideas for Fall + Winter Weddings

    Today we’ve got a guest post from Favor Craver with some fab favor ideas for fall + winter weddings!
    At long last the summer is over, and perpetual wedding guests/favor cravers like me can look forward to getting the best edible favor there is: chocolate! As the air gets chilly and celebrations move indoors, a chocolate favor can finally survive the walk from the reception hall to the car without melting inside my purse. Hooray!
    I’m not picky about how I get chocolate. I like chocolate bars, like these Mast Brothers bars wrapped in pretty paper.
    I like fudge — I mean really, who doesn’t — and I really like fudge when it comes in nice big boxes like these.
    I also like my chocolate hot, so I’m completely thrilled to get hot chocolate favors. Don’t forget the marshmallows!
    Are you treating your guests to some chocolately goodness at your wedding in these cool-weather months? Promise you’ll invite me! I only drink a little and I give fabulous presents.

    {Real Wedding} Sara + Reno: Winter Whistler Wedding (say that three times fast)

    I was searching and scouring the internet for a fabulous wedding to post today as my send off for a week off (well, not OFF but revisiting the most popular posts of 2011 to give me a little break with the fam).  This one knocked my socks off, and Erin Hearts Court was kind enough to allow me to share it with you.  I’ve been a huge fan of Erin Hearts Court for a while, and this wedding is a perfect example of why.

    The snow, the color palette, the fur, the bride’s hair…it is all so perfectly lovely!  Maybe it is because I live in LA and don’t suffer in the cold, but there is something so romantic to me about a snowy winter wedding!  You can also see the slideshow done by Erin Hearts Court here.
    So if you want to relive the best posts of 2011 come back and see the recap starting tomorrow.  I’ll be back after the holiday.  And don’t forget, to celebrate my two year blogaversary and a REALLY BIG announcement I’ll be making in the new year, I’ve got a week of great giveaways lined up for the first week in January.  Come back and win some awesome stuff y’all!
    Are you a winter wedding bride?  Or did you get married on a hot August day (like I did) and like to romanticize about a pretty winter wedding?  I’d love to hear about your dream winter wedding in the comments section.  And congrats to any Christmas brides getting married this weekend!  And a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, wonderful holiday season to you all.

    Five Very Different Winter Wedding Florals Ideas

    If you’re a winter bride, you know your florals depend on what is in season.  You aren’t likely to get peonies, but you do have some fabulous choices that really showcase what a winter wedding is all about.  Here are five of my favorite looks:

    {berries + branches}
    {cotton + wood}
     {pine + texture}
     {evergreen + citrus}

    {veggies: artichoke, thistle, ornamental cabbage + kale}
    {bouquets and photos by green wedding shoes}

    So what do you think?  If I were to have a winter wedding, I think I’m the veggie bride – I’ve always loved ornamental cabbage and kale as florals and that blue thistle is amazing.  But that cotton is also really cool, and I love pine and evergreen.  So torn!  Which is your winter floral style?

    {DIY} Holiday + Winter Wedding Decor DIYs

    DIY colorful bottle brush trees | Holiday DIY | Oh Lovely Day

    Tis the season to get crafy, and there are so many great holiday DIYs out there for either your home or holiday party, or you can totally incorporate them into a winter or Christmas wedding.  Here are a few of my favorites:

    {washi tape ornaments}

    {go to poppytalk for full DIY}

    I love ornaments.  I like to collect them and make them and add to my collection every year.  These washi tape ornaments are so easy, fun, and really pretty.  Hang them on your tree, give them as gifts, or use them in your wedding decor and give them as favors!

    {mason jar snow globes}

    See full DIY on Oh Lovely Day here.

    I love the idea of using old mason or jelly jars to make a homemade snow globe.  It makes it even more fun that I’ve seen these sold at Anthropologie for like $30 each.  You can totally make your own, and make them more personal to you, and for way cheaper!  You could make one for each table if you wanted to incorporate them into your wedding.

    {dip dyed colorful bottle brush trees}

    These are so fun to make and would be great for wedding decor or favors, or use them to make the mason jar snow globes above! Get the full DIY here.

    {pinecone garland}
    {for full DIY instructions go to Design*Sponge}

    This one is the perfect mantle adornment for the holidays, and would also look fantastic as a natural “altar” for your ceremony or to hang on the front of a head table or dessert table at your winter wedding.

    {snow luminaries}

    What could be more elegant, or more simple, than these snow luminaries?  They are snow, a candle, and a jar.  And what is that snow, you ask?  Why, it is epsom salt!  Cheap and easy to find, and looks like glittery snow.  Make these for your porch and light before your holiday party or on Christmas Eve to welcome Santa (if you don’t have a chimney).  If incorporating into your winter wedding, you could literally use these everywhere.  And you really wouldn’t need much more than this to decorate with.  Line your ceremony aisle, put them all over in behind your “altar” area, and then transport them to your reception and put them on your tables.

    If you like these holiday DIY’s, go follow me on Pinterest where I have a collection of over 50 ideas in my “ho ho ho” board!  But follow all my boards for lots of great wedding inspiration too. And you can also see lots of holiday inspiration on my instagram feed.

    So, which is your favorite holiday DIY?  Do you have a favorite that didn’t make my list?  Tell me about it and maybe I’ll include it in my next list of faves, which is coming at you next week!

    {Inspiration Board} O’ Christmas Tree

    {palette} bark brown, winter white, pine green
    {inspiration} a winter wedding inspired by the classic, simple Christmas tree.  Not the overly decorated, colored lights, big bulbs tree.  Just a pine tree, plain, simple, and chic.
    {great details} brown herringbone fabric adds texture and pattern around the bouquet, pinecone escort cards and bout tie the details together without overdoing it, and aisle decor of only bark and candles is fantastic and easy.

    • It seems like only yesterday I was bringing Charlie here at this age (there's even a video of Charlie wearing this exact shirt there in the #charlielovestheyellownoodles feed!) And now #calvinlovestheyellownoodles too. I'm gonna blink and Quincy will be doing the same thing. They grow up way too fast -- I'm so grateful to have this time with them. #thesearethedays #calvins2ndyear Took the littles to @lacma to wear them out, but I think this one wore me out instead #calvins2ndyear #OLDsfaveplacesinLA #lacma
       Love your guts from that fluffy hair on your head to those curled up toes ❤️ And don't forget to check out the blog today for a post on our experience with infant reflux and 7 tips for dealing with it, plus what products and treatments worked for us. Link in profile - tag your infant reflux and colicky baby parents. #22weeks #quincysweekbyweek #quincyrhys #whatquincywears #infantreflux #colic #momtips If there's one bit of wisdom I could share with other parents that I have learned with absolute certainty as a mom of three it is this: sleep begets sleep. The better they sleep, the more they sleep. The more they sleep, the better they sleep. It might not make sense that putting your baby down at 7 instead of 8 or 9 will get him to sleep longer, but by god it does. I'm gonna share all of my tips on getting your babes to be good sleepers. But first I wanted to talk about infant reflux -- our experience with it and what has worked for us in dealing with it -- because I know many of you are also struggling with it. And it's just beyond the pits. So head to the blog tomorrow to read that post and I promise to get the sleep one up soon. I feel like I could write a whole book on it at this point. Maybe I should write a whole book on it... 🤔 Also, This picture of Quincy from his nap today is totally distracting me from getting any work done at all. Because those cheeks and lips are all I can handle right now #quincyrhys
