• Family Friday: Summer Bucket Lists + Teacher Gifts

family friday | Oh Lovely Day

Do you plan a list of summer activities with your family? Since this is the last weekend of spring, now’s the time to sit down with your family and write a summer bucket list. Since baby #2 is due at the end of August, my family has a “Bucket List Before Baby” – basically our summer fun list that we started a little early (since we’re in Los Angeles and it’s summer all year anyways). Here are some of our activities to help you get started planning yours:

    • Visit the Santa Monica Pier
    • Feed the ducks at Franklin Canyon
    • Go to jazz night at LACMA
    • Beach day in Malibu
    • Last Disneyland visit before our passes expire
    • Visit the Endeavor at the California Science Center
    • Take Charlie to see Chris Burden’s Metropolis at LACMA
    • Visit the aquarium
    • Find a place to have shave ice in LA

These are a few of our LA-specific activities. What are some things on your family summer fun bucket list? Do you make one? And you can follow ours on instagram under hashtag #bucketlistbeforebaby. Hashtag yours with #lovelysummerfun so I can follow along too!

preschool teacher gift idea | Oh Lovely Day

And since summer is here, so is the time to give your kiddo’s teachers a gratitude gift. Charlie just finished his first year of preschool and his teachers have been so wonderful all year. They take care of him, hold his hand, kiss his boo boos, teach him to clean up, help him make gifts for mom and dad, clean up bathroom accidents, and have helped him grown and come such a long way this year. And even though there are 5 teachers and I don’t have the money to give them the elaborate gift of gratitude they deserve, I did want to show them my appreciation in a way I could manage. So I made these cute little succulent pots with a thank you message. Truth be told, I was originally going to paint the pots and create my own sign (the one I used can be found here), but since I have third trimester energy levels (read: none) this was the best I could manage. They loved them anyways.

What are your favorite teacher gratitude gift ideas?

And in case you missed my Momtastic posts this week, here they are:

    Have a great weekend! xx

    • Can we talk for a sec about how obsessed I am with this illuminating @zacposen gown that Claire Danes wore to the Met Gala? It's like Cinderella meets celestial. ✨ (I showed my husband and he said "and you met Zac Posen!" Thanks babe ) #metgala2016 #zacposen #clairedanes #bestdressed These ranunculus are still going strong and the yellow is just so beautiful. One of my favorite flowers for sure
If my gym were this cute I'd go more often. (Or at least I'd *think* about going more often ) After a few nights with frequent wake ups after his first long stretch of sleep, I decided to try having Quincy sleep in his bassinet instead of the rock-n-play he has always slept in to help with his reflux. He usually sleeps from 7:30 or 8 pm to 1:30, then eats and goes back to sleep, waking every 1-2 hrs till 7-8 am. Well, last night I put him down in his rock-n-play (since he nurses right before bed and I was worried his reflux would flare if I laid him flat) and when I went to bed 2 hours later I moved him to his bassinet. He didn't wake up and slept until -- wait for it -- 4:15 am! Then he nursed and was back to sleep by 5am and slept till 8! What a huge difference! I got 6 straight hours of sleep and 8 total. It's like a new world today ✨ So night sleep in the @dockatot placed in our @thelandofnod bassinet is our new thang #quincysmilestones #quincyrhys
